Talent show set for school auditorium

Talent spanning seven different decades will be on display Saturday night during the All-Class Reunion Entertainment Extravaganza.<BR><BR>Set for 7 p.m. at Washington Auditorium, the show will feature plenty of music and singing, some dancing and even a brief history lesson.<BR><BR>“Our theme is ‘School Days Remembered,’” said Darlene Nemanich, who joined Terri Muhvich in co-chairing the event. “It’s taking us down memory lane with music and song.”<BR><BR>In less than an hour-and-a-half, those who attend the show will watch and listen to several different acts, nearly all of which feature Ely high school alumni.<BR><BR>The program includes:<BR><BR>• 1945 graduate Therese Fleming-Leon, who will play a medley of 1940s music on the piano;<BR><BR>• Karen Bauman (1977), Rose Bauman (1981) and Pam (wife of 1987 graduate John) Bauman, performing a medley of Disney songs;<BR><BR>• The singing of 2002 graduate Molly Zupancich;<BR><BR>• Irene Hartfield (1967), who will sing ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You;’<BR><BR>• The Studio North dancers;<BR><BR>• Herb Akins Jr. (1954) singing ‘The Way You Look Tonight;’<BR><BR>• A dance performance by 1981 graduate Sue Hoffmeister;<BR><BR>• The singing of Barb (Cary) Hall (1967), Joe Baltich (1950) and Paula Baltich (1958), who will perform two songs. Hall also has composed a song specifically for the reunion, which she will perform;<BR><BR>• Current high school student Angela Olson, who will start the program with ‘Memories’ and perform later in the show;<BR><BR>• The Grace Lutheran Church Choir.<BR><BR>Geri Koschak, an Ely graduate and current teacher at the high school, will emcee the event, and the show will include a brief two-minute history of the high school and wraps up with the singing of the Ely High School song.<BR><BR>Organizers Nemanich and Muhvich finalized the lineup after contacts with more than 40 potential acts.<BR><BR>“We think it’s going to be a great program,” said Nemanich. “Terri and I have been co-chairs, and our rock has been Denise (Dreschler) who has helped us with so many things, and Peter Kess, who is doing the lights.”<BR><BR>Reunion participants received tickets to the event, although seating to the general public - at $5 per ticket - will be available if auditorium seats aren’t filled 10 minutes before showtime.<BR><BR>
