You’re Invited to Attend

The City of Ely invites the public to attend our Blandin Broadband Community Vision meeting where priorities will be set and projects developed to improve Internet access and use in the Ely Area.

Last November, the Ely Area was named one of ten Blandin Broadband Communities, a program that provides planning, technical and financial support to communities that demonstrate the determination to bring the benefits of a broadband enabled economy to their communities. These ten communities will have access to a special $750,000 grant fund, but projects will have to meet Blandin Foundation standards to be funded.

All interested community members can come to Amici’s Event Center at 10 W. Pattison Street on Wednesday February 15th from 3-6 pm to help identify our community’s strengths and gaps, brainstorm project ideas and prioritize potential projects. Cross-sector and collaborative efforts will be a priority. Once projects emerge, our Ely Area non-profits, schools and governments will have the opportunity to apply for up to $100,000 in total grant funds over two years. The first deadline for grant applications is April 1, 2017.

The City of Ely can not do this alone, and needs the community to become involved in this important initiative to expand availability and use of broadband in the Ely Area.

Please RSVP to Harold R. Langowski at or call
