Charles Dean Carlson, 79, of Ely passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born on July 31, 1930 in Ely to Oscar and Helen (Sikala) Carlson.
Charles graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1949. He married Carol Bianchi on March 16, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired from Reserve Mining Company.
He is survived by his wife Carol; children: James (Patty) Carlson, Elaine (Daniel) Perko, all of Ely; Mark (Sue) Carlson of West Concord, MN; brothers: Bernie (Joyce) Carlson, Lake Havasu, AZ; Jerry (Malene) Carlson, Hutchinson, MN; sister MaryAnn (David) Frank, Mesa, CO; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded his parents Oscar and Helen and son Jon "Uno" Carlson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ely with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home.
