Several members of the Northeast Range Trap Team traveled to the Udovich Game Farm for an afternoon of pheasant hunting on October 14.
The annual hunt has become a popular event for the team that formed just two years ago.
“Teaching kids to wing shoot at the range is just part of the big picture”. said Head Coach Chad Loewen.
“Over half of these kids in attendance today had never been pheasant hunting before. Showing them how to apply their trapshooting skills to an actual hunt is a very rewarding accomplishment for them. It’s an experience that they can now re-produce on their own for years to come.”
At the end of the day the team was taught how to properly dress out and package their birds for the freezer.
Everybody went home with enough for a meal with one bird headed to the taxidermist.
The event was organized by local guide Merle Vandervest and lunch was provided by Zup’s of Babbitt.
