Alumni games on for Friday

Former Ely Timberwolves will take to the court and to the rink on Friday night.
The occasion are annual alumni games that have become a holiday tradition of sorts in town.
Ely’s high school hockey alumni game is set for 7 p.m. at the Ely Arena, while across the school campus the gymnasium will warm up that evening with alumni boys and girls basketball tilts.
The girls game tips off at approximately 7:30 p.m., while former Ely boys basketball players will follow at 8:30 p.m.
Teams will be split in two to create competitive matchups in both the boys and girls contests.
Participants in recent years have run from alumni dating back to the 1980s to those who were on the court as recently as the previous year.

There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be collected, with all proceeds donated toward the Ely Hoop Club basketball scholarships.
Participants in the hockey alumni game are asked to pay a $20 fee and they may sign up on Facebook on the Ely Alumni Hockey Page.
