Public Hearing Notice<BR><BR>The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 6:01 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S. 1st Ave. E.) to consider a request for variance. The applicant is John Schiltz. Schiltz owns property described as W'ly 1/2 of Lot 10 and all of Lots 11 & 12 of Block 3 of Semers 2nd Addition to Ely, parcel 030-0262-00600 (248 W. Camp St). Schiltz is requesting a variance to increase the non-conformity of an existing structure, by constructing an addition 2' from the property line. This is the current setback of the structure on the property and the addition will continue along the established distance from the property line. This variance request is to vary from Section 11.11, Subd. 2 of the Ely City Code which states "Any structure...which does not comply with the provisions of this Chapter...not be enlarged or altered in a way which increases its non-conformity." All interested parties will be heard at this hearing. If you are unable to attend the hearing but wish to comment, you may do so in writing and either mail your comments to or drop them off at City Hall, 209 E. Chapman St., Ely, or by calling the Planning & Zoning office at 365-3224, ext. 313.
