PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE<BR><BR>The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing for a variance request on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 6:15 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S 1st Ave. E.). The property owners are the City of Ely and Milestones Inc., and, the authorized agent is JMW Development. The City of Ely property is described as: vacated highway right-of-way in the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 and the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of S34/T63N/R12W, parcel id. 030-05000-00392. Milestones Inc. owns three parcels described as: (1) Outlot A of Zaverl's Additon to Ely, parcel id. 030-0408-00100; (2) Outlot B of Zaverl's Addition to Ely, parcel id. 030-0408-00110; and, (3) Lot 6 of the Power Line Addition to Ely, parcel id. 030-0210-00060. These parcels are located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Sheridan St. and Highway 1. JMW is requesting a variance from Section 11.20 (Off-Street Loading & Parking) of the Ely City Code, Subd. 2D, which requires 'one parking space for each 100 square feet of total floor area.' JMW is proposing to construct a retail structure with adjacent parking lot that will be located on all four parcels. The retail space will have a square footage of 33,000 square feet, which would require 330 parking spaces. JMW is requesting a variance to allow for 121 parking spaces. All interested parties will be heard at this hearing. If you are unable to attend the hearing but wish to comment, you may do so in writing and either mail your comments to or drop them off at City Hall, 209 E.
