Alice Marie (Hanson) Hoaglin, 89, of Babbitt, dies

Alice Marie (Hanson) Hoaglin, 89, of Babbitt, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born in Cromwell, Minn., to Joseph and Sena Burnside. Alice was raised in Hawley, Minn., and graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College. She married Donald Hanson in 1948, lived in Cass Lake, Minn., and Babbitt, and raised seven children. After her husband died, she returned to school and graduated from Bemidji State University. She married John Hoaglin in 1993 and lived in Babbitt and Mesa, Ariz.
Alice was a homemaker, teacher, and day care provider.
Alice is survived by six children, Edward Hanson, Raymond Hanson, Keith (Vicki) Hanson, Donna (Andrew) Pothier, JoAnne (David) Johnson, and Amy Swanson; 17 grandchildren, Craig, Brian, Joseph, Stephanie, Allan, Megan, Sarah, Erin, Anne, Christine, Alicia, Robert, Allison, Jessica, Sena, Nathaniel, and Elaina; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Olson; and brothers, Lloyd and Orvin Burnside.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Eugene Hanson; and five brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Babbitt, with the Rev. Dorothy Sand officiating. A luncheon reception will follow.
