Memorial set for Eleanor Smith July 21

Eleanor Ruth Costello Smith, 93, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus at the Boundary Water Care Center the morning of January 3, 2014 after a short bout of illness.  
She was born on August 16, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois.  Eleanor married Louis Smith at the age of 24 and they moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin.  She moved to Ely with Louie in the spring of 1984, where both her sisters resided.  She nursed her husband for 8 years until he died of cancer in the fall of 1984.  She and Louie had no children.
Eleanor had a very gentle, sweet spirit.  She was kind and generous to her family and friends, especially with her love & prayers.  She was actively involved with the Baptist Church since 1984, now called the Ledgerock Community Church, where she developed many close friends.
Well into her 80s she volunteered at the nursing home and was well known and liked.  She was an avid knitter, enjoyed gardening, loved baking and cooking, was a gracious hostess.
She is survived by her sister Dolores Costello Bulinski, brother in law Emery Bulinski, nephews: William Bulinski, Earl (Sharon) Bulinski, Gregory Bulinski, nieces: her special faithful companion Pamela Bulinski, Patricia Bulinski and Rebecca (Brian) Falk, two great nephews and six great nieces, a great great niece and three great great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Smith, father William Costello and mother Mildred Bookey Snyder, stepfather Elmer “Bud” Snyder, sister Patricia Costello Weiss and brother in-law Ralph Weiss.
A Memorial service will be held at Ledgerock Community Church, 1515 E. Camp Street Ely, MN on July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.  Please join the family afterword for a gathering in the fellowship hall; beverages and desserts will be served.
