Rosemarie P. Buchner, 85, of Ely dies

Rosemarie P. Buchner, 85, of Ely, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014. She was born March 17, 1929 in Ely to Agatha (Carr) and Simon Marolt. She graduated from Ely Memorial High School. She married Joseph E. Buchner on July 14, 1951 in Ely.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Slovenian Women’s Union.
Rosemarie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings where her apple potica was her specialty, a tradition that was passed down from her mother and she passed down to grandson Scott and niece Shannon.
Rosemarie worked with her husband Joe in the family aircraft repair business and was well known in the aviation community for her quality fabrication work.
She was an avid sports fan and never missed a game her grandchildren played. She loved to watch the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Green Bay Packers.
She enjoyed being a Boy Scout Den Mother, delivering Meals On Wheels, helping Bob and Dea at the Ely Shopper office, Saturday afternoon second floor coffee gatherings at Grahek Apartments and her sewing club (BWCA - Beautiful Women of Chandler Addition).
She touched many lives and will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Edward, Louis and Albert; sister Delores High.
She is survived by her children: Margie (Mark) Olson, Robert “Ropey” Buchner, Jim (Marie) Buchner; grandchildren: Scott (Angela) Olson, Brian Olson, Kaia Rose Deschane, Joe McCulloch, Clint (Tina) Buchner, Melissa (Jason) Buchner-Mehling; great grandchildren: Luke and Lauren Olson; Andy and Hanna Buchner; Alex and Riley Zapf, Madeline and Melanie Mehling; brother: Simon Marolt; sister-in-law Marydel Marolt; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely with visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
