Flora Mae Erickson, 82, dies

Flora Mae Erickson died Saturday, September 13, 20014 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. She was born September 7, 1932 to Erwin and Mary (Sterns) Kibbler of Boy River, MN.
She owned and operated “Flora’s Beauty Shop” in Benville for 32 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Babbitt, MN where she was active in the quilting circle. Flora enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, handicrafts, gardening, reading, crosswords, scrabble, travel and the opera. She loved music and played the piano, accordion and guitar. She was a kind and generous woman with a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She had recently visited with family and friends, some of whom she had not seen in years in her hometown of Boy River, MN. Her children were so grateful to have celebrated her 82nd birthday with her, just a week before her passing.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Mary; husband, Earl; and sister, Mary Ann Lake.
Flora is survived by her daughter Sherian (Jeff); son, Douglas; her brother Charles (Marsha) Kibbler; nephews Wade (Jennifer) Kibbler and Chad (Tandy) Kibbler, and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the First Responders of Babbitt, the ER staff of Ely Bloomenson Hospital, the Medivac staff of Essentia Health and St Marys Medical Center in Duluth for the kind and compassionate care Flora received.
Funeral services will be held on September 22, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Evangellical Lutheran Church in Babbitt, MN with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service at the church. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
