Donna M. Semeja, 81, of Virginia dies

Donna M. Semeja, 81, of Virginia passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born on September 19, 1933 in Calumet, MN and graduated from the Eveleth High School in 1951.
Donna worked at Reserve Mining Company in Babbitt and was active in the Lutheran churches in Babbitt, Ely and Virginia. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed spending time at their lake homes, traveling, playing bingo and supporting Rudy’s sports teams; and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rudy Semeja of Virginia; three children, Mark (Rebecca) Semeja of St. James, MN, Jean (Dan) Porthan of Springfield, MO and John (Donna) Semeja of Coon Rapids, MN; six grandchildren, Chad (Stephanie), Karl, Erik (Amy), Greg (Joanna), Courtney and Nick; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Keira, Dylan, Lucia and Amelia; and one sister, Norma (Ken) Nelson of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Lucille (Herman) Johnson; brother Robert Johnson and father-in-law Mike Semeja.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia with Pastor Lisa Buchanan officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia.
