Floyd K. Bach, 79, of Ely, dies

Floyd Kingsley Bach, 79, of Ely, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017, surrounded by his family at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. He was born in 1937 in Walker, MN to William and Dorothy (Kingsley) Bach.
Floyd was raised on a farm with cattle, horses, pigs and crop farming. He enjoyed playing musical instruments; his favorite was his trusty harmonica. As he was growing up he became a jack of trades, he also was a trapper, mechanic, over the road truck driver, heavy equipment operator, logger and settled on becoming a licensed contractor, which truly was his passion for over 65 plus years. He truly enjoyed teaching the building trade and was very generous with anyone down on their luck.
In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering in just about anything, but enjoyed his garden, horseshoes, Elvis – music, dancing, was the governor of the Ely Moose Lodge for a short time in the early ’90s.
He was a jokester and lived life to the fullest.
In 1980, he found the love of his life Darlene (Pucel) Bach, they married in 1990. They enjoyed 37 wonderful years together. They loved life to the fullest and enjoyed dancing, playing cards and watching their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, William Bach and Dorothy Holmes, son: Jody Kingsley Bach, brother: Louis, sister: Adeline and half brother John.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Darlene, and children: William Bach, Yvonne Bach, Brenda (Jerome) Whiting, Bruce (Carrie) Bach, Michele (Dave) Milton and Brian Lindland; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; seven brothers, seven sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
