The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing

The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing
on Wednesday April 4th, 2018 at 5:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Chamber Room of City Hall to consider issuance of a Variance requested by the City of Ely to construct a picnic pavilion with reduced shoreline setback at Semer’s Park on Shagawa Lake.
The City’s request is to construct a picnic pavilion at a reduced shoreline setback to allow for appropriate sloped walk ways to accommodate Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) handicap accessibility and to provide safety and visibility for families with young children near the water.
City Ordinance states that the minimum Required Setback for construction on Shagawa Lake shoreline is 75 feet from the Ordinary High Water Mark. Based on the architectural design and engineering survey used for construction the requested setback is 25 feet or greater from the Ordinary High Water Mark.
All interested parties may submit comments to Planning and Zoning, 209 E Chapman Street Ely MN 55731, pzadmin@ely.mn.us, or in person at the public hearing. Your name must be included for comments to be presented at the public hearing.
