Grace Lutheran seeks more volunteers

Women of Grace Quilters had a busy and productive winter sewing a variety of quilts which filled all the Grace Lutheran church pews recently. Now they are raising funds to ship the donation. The women include: Marge Haugen, Val Lovsness, Corinne Beals, Shirley Parish and Shirley Ronn.

Alison and I were out of town for the Winter and had a wonderful surprise when we returned to church this past Sunday; all the pews were covered with brightly colored quilts made by our “Women of Grace” quilters over this past year. They were beautiful and represented the work of a few dedicated quilters that meet at the church to work with scraps of fabric and create these works of art.
The quilts are now going to be packaged up and sent to the Lutheran World Relief for delivery to the needy around the world.
The Saturday, May 18 rummage sale being held at Grace Lutheran from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. will help to pay for the shipping of the quilts to the WELCA Summer Gathering being held in June.
The group is“always looking for a “Few Good Quilters” or people that would like to help out for such a worthy cause. As I mentioned, we are trying to grow our church and this is only one of the programs Grace offers to help represent Ely Minnesota and our community.
For the annual rummage sale, persons wishing to donate will be able to start bringing items to the church on Monday, May 13. We will need a crew to set up on Friday May 17 and many volunteers to help with the sale on Saturday, May 18, 8- 2 p.m.
This project is a fund raiser for the Women of Grace to pay for the shipping of quilts and kits that have been assembled throughout the year for Lutheran World Relief and delivered to the WELCA Summer Gathering in June.
So donate that gently used stuff and volunteer a little time.
