The Back Nine Stewardship Sale is located approximately 25 miles south of Ely, in Lake County, Minnesota, within T60N, R10W, Section 4 and T61N, R10W, Section 33 and 34. The Forest Service will receive sealed bids at the Kawishiwi Ranger District Office, at 1393 Highway 169, Ely, Minnesota 55731 before 1:00 p.m. local time on July 30th, 2019, for a combination of timber value and stewardship service work items associated with this stewardship project. Timber to be harvested within the project area includes an estimated 148.00 CCF jack pine sawtimber, 596.00 CCF red pine sawtimber, 162.00 CCF of aspen pulpwood, 4.00 CCF balsam fir pulpwood, 37.00 CCF paper birch pulpwood, and 970.00 CCF of pine pulpwood. In addition an un-estimated volume of mixed conifer and mixed hardwood biomass is being offered as timber subject to agreement that the bidder may agree to remove at a fixed rate. The Back Nine Stewardship includes two mandatory stewardship projects; General Composite High Clearance Road Maintenance and Culvert Installation at Stream Crossing. Bids will be evaluated on a best value basis to the government. The successful bidder will be evaluated based on their technical proposal describing how mandatory stewardship service work will be completed as well as a rate per unit bid on each stewardship service work item and an Offer Rate bid for included timber within mandatory cutting units. Offers will not be publicly opened or disclosed. The Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
