1.0 The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik.
2.0 On roll call the following directors were present via teleconference: Colarich, Mann, Marsnik, Omerza, Pointer, Sjoberg. Also present via teleconference: Erik Erie, Superintendent; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Keith Vandervort, Timberjay; Megan Anderson, Anne Oelke, Tim Leeson.

Books from Ely Empower to be used for the library and English Department.

7.b Moved by Colarich, seconded by Sjoberg, to approve the Personnel Consent Agenda:
7.b.1 (this item was pulled for a separate vote) Accepted the resignation of Evan Omerza from his paraprofessional position (6.5 hours/day, 5 days/week, student contact days) effective December 23, 2020.
7.b.2 Hired Melissa Hart for the Cafeteria Aide position (2 ¾ hours/day, 5 days/week, student contact days) effective October 20, 2020, per school board policy and the current master agreement between ISD No. 696 and AFSCME Local 295.
7.b.3 Hired Thomas Just for the Temporary Paraprofessional position (6.5 hours/day, 5 days/week, student contact days) effective November 2, 2020, per school board policy and the current master agreement between ISD No. 696 and AFSCME Local 295.
7.b.4 Approved the following coaches as recommended by Tom Coombe, Athletic Director, and head coaches, per school board policy: Nate LaFond, assistant junior high Nordic skiing coach (stipend paid by Ski Club); Mark Sponholz, Sarah Sponholz, Brenda Olson, Travis Durkin, Heather Durkin, Barb Thompson, Will Helms, Jen Stouffer, Jeff Nelson, Carl Skustad, Molly Johnston, Mary Grayson, Heather Cavalier, Christian Cavalier, Heidi Favet, volunteer assistant Nordic skiing coaches; Scott Matthias, volunteer assistant hockey coach.

10.b.1 Range Cornice will be delivering materials for project. They still aren’t sure to what extent of the project will be completed. It’s still weather permitting.
10.c K-5 Principal – Anne Oelke
10.c.1 K-5 enrollment 238 as of 11/3/2020.
10.c.2 COVID Planning Team continues to discuss: social distancing; teaching two platforms at once; discussing data including Greater St. Louis County, active school cases, and zip code data.
10.c.3 Veterans Board will be going up in the main hallway.

10.d.1 6-12 pupil count at Ely Memorial is 300.
10.d.2 Student Council hosted Homecoming week with coronation of a Queen and King, dress up days and announcing of royalty at Friday’s football game. Congratulations to Queen McKenna Coughlin and King Will Davies, as well as the Royal Court Sydni Richards, Gabby Motes, Madelyne Roderick, Brock LaTourell, Emmett Faltesek, and Jonah Schwamm.
10.d.3 We have been in the Hybrid Learning model for seven weeks. Students have adapted pretty well, but is a lot of juggling for staff and students.
10.d.4 Cross Country and Swimming have finished their respective seasons, while Volleyball and Football continue for a couple more weeks.
10.d.5 Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held November 17 and 19. Teachers will be scheduling conferences this week.

11.0 Board members comments and concerns
11.a Director Marsnik – Is concerned about compensatory aid which is based on applications for free and reduced lunches. Would like to encourage families to submit the free and reduced lunch forms by sending a letter.
11.b Director Pointer – Wanted to know what the school can do to help students, faculty and parents with mental health.
