1.0 The study session of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order in the Memorial Media Center by Chairman Marsnik at 6:00 p.m. This meeting was also held via video conference and teleconference.
2.0 On roll call the following directors were present: Colarich, Coombe, Marsnik, Omerza, Visser. Absent: Sjoberg. Also present: Erik Erie, Superintendent; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Keith Vandervort, Timberjay; Brian Yuretich, Northland Learning Center; Anne Oelke, Megan Anderson, Tim Leeson.
3.0 Brian Yuretich gave a brief update on the Northland Learning Center facility project.
4.0 Facility Project update was given by Superintendent Erie
4.a Bid package #2 Pre-Bid meeting will be held Wednesday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m.; public tabulation of bids will be held May 13 at 4:00 p.m.; special meeting to accepting bid recommendations will be held May 24 at 7:00 p.m.
4.b Abatement started in the old boiler building.
4.c May 17 start of the project. Will turn over areas to Kraus-Anderson.
4.d Parsons Electric has been on site working in the Industrial Arts building unhooking machines and fixtures.
4.e Groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Costin Group and KA to facilitate.
4.f Facilities Committee planning to meet after bids are opened.
5.0 Ely Safe Learning Plan update was given by Superintendent Erie.
5.a In-Person for Memorial Middle School/High School and Washington Elementary.
5.b Data from Ely Safe Learning Plan Advisory Council that shows a downward trend for Ely.
5.c One positive case
5.d Vaccinations and testing
6.0 There was discussion to modify the 2020-2021 elementary calendar due to the construction. It will go to a vote at the May 10 board meeting.
7.0 Superintendent Erie gave an update from the EEA Meet and Confer that was held on April 7. Next meeting is set for May 26.
8.0 There was discussion regarding the 2021-2022 scheduling and staffing. Principal Anderson presented three possible Memorial MS/HS schedules.
9.0 There was discussion of the meeting format. Superintendent Erie is waiting to hear back from MSBA.
10.0 Moved by Colarich, seconded by Visser, to adjourn at 7:15 p.m. Motion carried. (Vote: 5-0)
