School Board Meeting Minutes<BR><BR>July 13, 2009<BR><BR>The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik. On roll call the following directors were present: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Absent: none. Also present: High School Principal/Director of Operations, Dr. Kimberly Belcastro; Superintendent Dr. Donald Langan; Elementary Principal Joselyn Murphy; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Adam Masloski, Ely Timberjay. The meeting took place in the Washington Auditorium.<BR><BR>4.0 Moved by Kellerman, seconded by York-Jesme, to approve the agenda as amended.

<BR><BR>Special Board Meeting Minutes June 24, 2009<BR><BR> The special meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik. On roll call the following directors were present: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter. Absent: York-Jesme, Superintendent Langan. Also present: Nick Wognum, Ely Echo. York-Jesme arrived at 5:15 p.m.<BR><BR> Agenda: Interview candidates for the High School Principal/District Operations position and to consider candidates: 5:00 p.m. - Jorma T. Rahkola; 6:00 p.m. Dr. Kimberly K. Belcastro.<BR><BR> Moved by Kellerman, seconded by York-Jesme, to hire Dr. Kimberly K. Belcastro for the High School Principal/District Operations position for the 2009-2010 school year pending Board approval of a contract at the July 13, 2009, regular meeting. For: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Against: None.

School Board Meeting Minutes June 8, 2009<BR><BR> The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik. On roll call the following directors were present: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Absent: none. Also present: Superintendent Langan; Principal Murphy; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Adam Masloski, Ely Timberjay (arrived later during the meeting).<BR><BR> Chairman Marsnik commended Justin Lindgren, Band Director, for the band's performance at the spring concert. Also Jay Soderberg, for his accomplishment at the State level of competition for golf (22nd place), and Mariah McDonald, 9th grade, who at the May 29 Section 7A meet in Duluth, finished 2nd in the 800 meter run, recorded a personal best time and earned a berth in the Class A state competition.

USDA-FOREST SERVICE, SUPERIOR NATIONAL FOREST, KAWISHIWI RANGER DISTRICT, portions of sections in Township 60 North and Ranges 10, 11 and 12West, ST. LOUIS AND LAKE COUNTIES, MINNESOTA; DENLEY ROAD PROJECT. An Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Denley Road Project has been prepared and is available upon request at the Kawishiwi Ranger District Office, 1393 Hwy. 169, Ely, MN 55731. It is also available on the Superior National Forest website at www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/superior/projects. The project includes improving and paving Forest Road 424 (also called Denley Road and New Tomahawk Road), transferring jurisdiction of the road to Lake and St. Louis Counties, relocating three sections of the Stony Spur Trail that would be impacted by the road improvements, eliminating the Denley Impoundment to restore the flow of Denley Creek, and decommissioning two short sections of road.

They are: Maggie Jesme, Discussion; Ian Lah, Storytelling; Tia Gustafson, Prose; Elise stage, Drama; Sam Corbett, Duo; Becca Klein, Drama; Andie Mattei, Poetry; Emma Young, Poetry.
