Regular Meeting<BR><BR>Ely City Council<BR><BR>Regular meeting of the Ely City Council was called to order at 6:30 P.M by Mayor Charles J. Novak.<BR><BR>PRESENT: Council members Debeltz, Nikkola, Omerza, Sheddy, Zupec, Mayor Novak (6)<BR><BR>ABSENT: None (0)<BR><BR>Moved by Zupec supported by Debeltz, that the minutes of the regular meeting of January 16th be approved without reading. Carried unanimously. Minutes to stand as recorded.<BR><BR>The following additions were added to tonight's agenda: Council member Omerza - office hours. Moved by Omerza supported by Debeltz, that the addition be added to tonight's agenda under New Business, L.

School board minutes of Jan. 8

School Board Minutes <BR><BR>January 8, 2007<BR><BR>The reorganizational meeting of the School Board of Independent School District #696 was called to order by Tom Bruels, Superintendent, at 6:32 p.m. Present: Erzar, Kellerman, Leustek, Marsnik, Sorensen, and York-Jesme. Absent: none. Student Representative: None.<BR><BR>Erzar nominated Marsnik for Chairman. Moved by Kellerman, seconded by York-Jesme that nominations be closed and a unanimous ballot cast for Marsnik for Chairman. Motion carried.<BR><BR>Ray Marsnik, Chairman, took charge of the meeting at 6:37 p.m.<BR><BR>Sorensen nominated Kellerman for Clerk, supported by Erzar. Moved by Erzar, seconded by York-Jesme, that nominations be closed and a unanimous ballot cast for Kellerman for Clerk. Motion carried.<BR><BR>Erzar nominated York-Jesme for Treasurer, supported by Leustek.

Public Hearing Notice<BR><BR>The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing for a variance request on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 6:01 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S. 1st. Ave. E.). The property owner is Jacob Peshel, authorized agent is Jean Peshel. The property is described as the N'ly 75' of Lots 1 & 2 of Block 1 of Robin Gardens Addition to Ely, parcel id. 030-0230-00010 (1750 E. Camp St.). Jean Peshel is requesting a variance to vary from Section 11.01, Subd. 9, D, 3 d. This subdivision describes the home occupation regulations which state that "one sign, not to exceed 4 square feet in area...shall be permitted..." Jean Peshel is requesting a sign of 15 square feet. All interested parties will be heard at this hearing. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE<BR><BR>The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing for a variance request on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 6:15 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S 1st Ave. E.). The property owners are the City of Ely and Milestones Inc., and, the authorized agent is JMW Development. The City of Ely property is described as: vacated highway right-of-way in the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 and the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of S34/T63N/R12W, parcel id. 030-05000-00392. Milestones Inc. owns three parcels described as: (1) Outlot A of Zaverl's Additon to Ely, parcel id. 030-0408-00100; (2) Outlot B of Zaverl's Addition to Ely, parcel id. 030-0408-00110; and, (3) Lot 6 of the Power Line Addition to Ely, parcel id. 030-0210-00060. These parcels are located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Sheridan St. and Highway 1.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE<BR><BR>The City of Ely Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing for a variance request on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 6:30 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S. 1st Ave. E). The property owner is Queen City Federal S & L. This property is described, in part, as Unit 4, including the underlying 50% interest to the common area, parcel id. 030-0053-00040, (102 E. Sheridan St.). Queen City Federal S & L is requesting a variance from section 14.08, Subd. 3C, which sets a maximum square footage for a projecting sign at 24 square feet. Queen City Federal S & L is requesting a variance to update the current antiquated sign with a sign the same size, which is 32 sq. ft. All interested parties will be heard at this hearing. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE<BR><BR>The City of Ely Planning Commission has initiated an amendment to the Official City Code, as per Section 11.45 of the City Code. The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 6:45 PM in the Card Room of the Ely Community Center (Room 123, 30 S. 1st. Ave. E.) to consider a request for a rezoning of property. The property to be rezoned is owned by John Juranitch. Juranitch owns property descibed as; Part of SE 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of S27/T63/R12W, beginning 399.03' north and 33' west of the SE corner, thence west 143.42', thence north 300', thence east 147', thence south parallel to east line of said forty 300.02' to the point of beginning, parcel id 030-0500-00207 (303 N. 17th Ave. E). The property is currently zoned Residential 2 (R2), and Juranitch is proposing to rezone the property to Industrial & Related (M). All interested parties will be heard at this hearing.
