Jesme to present view of Syria Tuesday at VCC Theater

Maggie Jesme of Ely has spent four months of the last year living and working with Syrian refugees in Turkey. She will share her experiences there at a presentation on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. in the Vermilion Community College Fine Arts Theater.
She stated, “If the war in Syria and refugee crisis spilling across Europe and the Middle East pull at your heartstrings the way they do mine, I encourage you to join me.
“I will talk about the revolution, ISIS, the humanitarian crisis and hope for the future, all through the perspectives of Syrians I spent time with during those four months. Although this confusing conflict can seem hopeless at times, I hope to share with you the inspiration and strength that I encountered among the Syrians young and old who opened their lives to me.”
There will be an opportunity for Q&A and discussion after the presentation.
