Ely’s Thompson named All-IRC

After a strong conference meet, Ely senior Kelly Thompson has landed a spot on the All-Iron Range Conference girls swimming team.
Thompson, who plays a key role on the Northeast Range/Ely squad, was named All-IRC in the medley relay for the backstroke portion of that event.
During the Oct. 4 IRC meet at International Falls, Thompson led an NRE relay that placed fourth in that event.
Thompson also was fifth in the 100 backstroke at that meet and was part of a 200 freestyle relay team that placed seventh.
Thompson was the only NRE swimmer to be named All-IRC.
