Empower’s Women in Workforce Event held at Vermilion college

On Tuesday, Feb. 13 girls in grades 10-12 from local area high schools particpated in Empower’s Women in the Workforce Event at Minnesota North College - Vermilion Campus.

The purpose of the event was to inspire young women who are interested in non-traditional career paths that are traditionally male dominated fields.

At Vermilion, highlighted programs were Outdoor Recreation, Natural Recourse Tech, Park Ranger Law Enforcment Academy, and Wilderness and Park Managment Programs.

There were booths and panelist speakers from Minnesota Department of Natural Recourses, U.S. Forest Service, welding instructor Anna Wald, St. Louis Sheriff’s Department and the Minneapolis Police Department among others.

Empower seeks to support the education of women entering high-wage, high-demand non-traditional fields and roles. Assistance may be available for tuition, childcare, transportation, and study assistance.
