Ely’s Erika Mattson has completed her third season of college basketball.

The former Ely Timberwolves standout played in all 24 games and started eight for the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Mattson, a junior forward, played roughly 15 minutes per game for the Division III Yellowjackets, who went 10-14.

For the season, Mattson averaged 4.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per contest.

She had a season-high 10 points in a Feb. 4 game with Bethany Lutheran and paced her team with eight rebounds Feb. 10, in a loss to North Central.

Mattson is majoring in biology and chemistry at UWS, and moved on to the school after earning numerous all-conference honors in basketball, softball and volleyball for the Timberwolves.

Mattson is a two-sport athlete at UWS and is also part of the school’s softball team.

She was a backup infielder last season on a UWS team that won 33 games and finished a win shy of qualifying for  the NCAA Division III national tournament.
