Wolf threatens dogs near Babbitt

A Babbitt couple feels lucky to still have their two black labs after a run-in with a wolf outside of town.
The incident took place six miles east of Babbitt off the Tomahawk Road on Sept. 29.
Dave Soular, 66, and his wife Carol, 62, were walking their two black labs, Carly, age 9, and Lexi, a one year-old recently rescued from Contented Critters.
“We were near the Snort Lake gravel pit on a little side road. We’d walked in a couple hundred yards and Carly goes in the woods 20 yards and lets out a yip or a squeal. I thought she got her paw in a trap.
“She came out with her hair up and the younger dog goes in the woods and does the same thing....
