Twins coming to Ely Jan. 25

The Minnesota Twins are making a habit of coming to Ely.
Once again, the Major League Baseball team will make Ely a stop on their annual winter caravan. Team officials announced Thursday that a contingent will be in town on Thursday, Jan. 25.
The time, nature and location of the event are all still to be determined, but broadcaster Dick Bremer will be joined by outfielder Eddie Rosario and pitcher Jose Berrios.
Previous Twins’ events have included a lunch, program and a chance for photos and autographs with the players, as well as a raffle for autographed items.
The Twins’ visit has become somewhat of a winter tradition in Ely. This marks the 10th time since 2004 that the caravan will stop in Ely.
In all, the 2018 Twins Winter Caravan includes stops in more than 50 communities across the upper Midwest from Jan. 15-25.
The current and former Twins and broadcasting personalities who have appeared at winter events in Ely since 2004 include former manager Ron Gardenhire, former pitching coach Rick Anderson, Twins legends Tony Oliva and Tom Brunansky, broadcasters Bremer, John Gordon, Dan Gladden, Kris Atteberry, Cory Provus and Jack Morris, and players including Matt Guerrier, Mike Redmond, Brendan Harris, Pat Neshek, Glen Perkins, Boof Bonser, Lew Ford, Corey Koskie, Grant Balfour, Brian Duensing, Chris Parmelee, Trevor Plouffe Anthony Swarzak, Eduardo Escobar and Hector Santiago.
