Tomahawk still closed,others re-open

The Superior National Forest lifted the temporary closure of a twelve-mile section of The Grade Road (Forest Road 170) on the Tofte Ranger District between the Sawbill Trail and Wanless in Cook and Lake Counties, MN.
Forest managers closed this and some other sections of Forest Roads on November 29, 2017 due to the thick layer of ice that had created an extreme hazard for traffic in those areas.
While road conditions have improved in some areas, all motorists are urged to continue to use care when driving on Forest Roads and to be aware that many Forest Roads are not plowed to remove snow in the winter.
At this time, the temporary closure is still in effect for a five-mile portion of the Tomahawk Road (Forest Road 377) on the Kawishiwi Ranger District, from Highway 1, east to Forest Road 381 in Lake County, MN. A map of the closure is posted on the Superior National Forest website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/superior/alerts-notices/?aid=44436
