Dale C. Hegfors, 70, of Ely, dies

Dale C. Hegfors, 70, of Ely, MN lost a courageous four year battle with Melanoma. Dale was a longtime employee of Minnetac and retired as a millwright. Dale had a passion for classic cars and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Severin and Elaine Hegfors. He is survived by siblings: Claire (Chester) Dryke, Lee (Barb) Hegfors and Carrie (Al) Knuutti; nieces: Danielle Dryke and Kim (Ty) Lerum, and nephew Jeremy Hegfors; several cousins and his really wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sat., June 23 at First Presbyterian Church, Ely, MN fellowship at 12:30 and following the service. In lieu of flowers please support Jeremy Hegfors as he rides to support MN cancer research in Dale’s honor: https://chainbreakerride.org/rider/1144.

Raymond Richard Doran, 80, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past six years, formerly of Ely, MN, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 in Cape Coral, FL.
Raymond Richard Doran, 80, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past six years, formerly of Ely, MN, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born September 2, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to Raymond and Helen Doran, now deceased.
Raymond was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ely, MN. His life work was in rigging and heavy hauling where he was President of Doran Transfer and Rigging Company. He achieved his lifelong goal of living in a cabin in the northern woods of Minnesota where he enjoyed year round outdoor activities especially fishing. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Gordon F. Dodge, 81, of Aurora, IL, dies

Gordon F. Dodge, 81, of Aurora, IL, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 12, 1936 in San Francisco, CA.
Gordon proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1957. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the 3rd Marine Division as a Corporal.
Gordon worked for the Aurora Country Club prior to his retirement. He was a commercial pilot, auto mechanic and was an expert woodworker. In his spare time, Gordon loved to read any book he could get his hands on.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lida; children: Rachel Scott, Robin Mattes, Vincent Dodge, grandchildren Jake and Luke Cuttie, Loralli & Noah Bailey, Kelsey andLida Dodge, Jr., sisters Jackie Gallegos, Candy Hogan, Judy Wade, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edward “Eddy” Anthony Tezak, Jr., 71, of Duluth dies

Edward “Eddy” Anthony Tezak, Jr., 71, of Duluth passed away suddenly in his home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was born January 25, 1947 in Duluth to Edward and Christine (Koprivnik) Tezak and was raised in Ely, MN. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Vietnam Era. He married Linda Johnson July 26, 1967 in Tower, MN. Eddy was employed as an electronic technician with MN Power for 38 years retiring in 2012.
Eddy was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, American Legion Post #71; IBEW Union and served as the union steward previously. His passion was his family; in his free time he enjoyed fishing and spending time at the cabin on Lake Vermilion with his family and friends.

Carol J. (Long) Rentschler, 79, dies

Carol J. (Long) Rentschler, a long time resident of Babbitt, died in her sleep on May 12, 2018 in Callender Iowa at the age of 79. A memorial service for Carol will be held on June, 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt. There will be a visitation at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Frank Davis will officiate. A time of fellowship with coffee and bars will follow the service. The Rentschlers invite family and friends to join them at the Argo cemetery for the inurnment on June 11, 2018 at 1 p.m.
