Lossing’s Power Sports has donated $1,500 to the Prospector ATV Club this October. This follows earlier contributions to the 2025 Snowmobile Fun Run, bringing the company’s total support for local ATV and snowmobile clubs to more than $7,000 for 2025.

“Our community sometimes forgets what a gem we have for outdoor enthusiasts — and how much planning, collaboration, and volunteer time goes into making the Ely–Babbitt–Tower area the premier riding destination in Minnesota,” said Derek Lossing, General Manager of Lossing’s Power Sports.

“The Prospector Loop system attracts riders from across Minnesota and the country, filling hotel rooms, restaurants, and local businesses, especially in the fall when BWCA tourism slows. The Ely Igloo Club and other snowmobile organizations do the same each winter from January through March.”

Lossing added that the region’s trail network directly supports the local economy - and the dealership’s customers experience it firsthand.

“We rent side-by-sides all summer to guests, many of whom have never ridden before. Day after day, they return amazed by the chance to explore the wilderness. More visitors are coming back year after year — planning vacations around Giants Ridge, the BWCA, and the Prospector Loop as a must-do part of their trip.”

He also encouraged locals to stay engaged.

“We urge riders to join their local ATV and snowmobile clubs, shop locally, and make sure elected officials understand how vibrant the ATV and Snowmobile community is. Tourism and trail maintenance depend on strong local support — and that benefits everyone.”

Foundedin1991,Lossing’sPower Sports is one of the longest-serving dealerships on the Iron Range. The business sells and rents Ski-Doo snowmobiles and Can-Am side-bysides, employing six full-time staff in the Ely–Babbitt area.
