A flagpole at city hall that wasn’t working properly was repaired this past week, thanks to some help from the Ely Fire Department.
Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich said, “I honestly can’t thank Tony Chamberlin enough for reaching out to the Ely Fire Department to see if they could help us out. And did they ever! Scott Polyner and Ryan Callen volunteered to drive the Ely Fire Truck over and get our flag up pronto. On a cold night at 24 degrees they jumped in the ladder and went up 50 feet to get that rope taken care of. Scott said afterwards, ‘others did way more for that flag, that’s the least we could do.’ I teared up. Thank you City of Ely Fire Department, Scott Polyner, Ryan Callen andTony Chamberlin. I so greatly appreciate it.”
