One will be on the court and another will be there in honorary fashion - but two members of Ely’s high school volleyball team will be part of an annual area volleyball all-star game.
Senior Sadie Rechichi and junior Audrey Kallberg will represent the Timberwolves volleyball program at the 13th annual “Battle of the Big Dogs,” all-star game, slated for Sunday at Greenway High School in Coleraine.
The game, which features top-rated players from the Iron Range against a team of standouts from the Duluth area, is set for 4 p.m.
Rechichi will play for the Iron Range team while Kallberg, who missed the entire 2025 season with a knee injury, was picked as an honorary member.
This season, Rechichi earned both All-Arrowhead and All-Iron Range Conference honors for an Ely team that won 19 games, won the Arrowhead Conference title and reached the Section 7A quarterfinals.
For the year, the senior hitter had 185 kills, second most on the team, and also finished with a team-best 55 ace serves and was second with 213 digs.
Rechichi will be part of the Iron Range team with players from Greenway, Grand Rapids, Chisholm, North Woods, Nashwauk-Keewatin and Deer River.
They’ll tangle with a Duluth area team comprised of players from Esko, Proctor, Floodwood, Cloquet, Duluth East and South Ridge.
