MnDOT to reclaim and pave Hwy. 169 from Ely to Winton

The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 2026 road construction season includes more than 200 projects that will help improve and maintain roads, bridges and other transportation infrastructure.

Travelers across Minnesota should be prepared to slow down as road construction projects scale up across the state.

In northeast Minnesota, MnDOT will be repaving Hwy. 169 between Ely and Winton.

The project will be constructed under traffic using lane closures. Drivers should expect to drive on milled or gravel surfaces for periods of time during construction.

The project will resurface 3.7 miles of Hwy. 169 and repair and line culverts along the corridor between July and November from the Hidden Valley Road to the start of the Fernberg at Power Dam Road.

The estimated construction cost is $3.9 million.
