The wait is over for bargain hunters and outdoor enthusiasts as the Ely Chamber of Commerce gets set to put on a major spring event.
On Saturday, May 16, the Ely Chamber will hold its 14th annual City-Wide Rummage Sale Business Crazy Day and Used Equipment and Watercraft Sale.
Rummage sales will kick off city-wide starting at 8 a.m., and starting times vary for retail businesses.
This premier spring event turns the entire community into an expansive marketplace, offering everything from vintage household finds to professional-grade wilderness gear.
According to a Chamber news release, the event appeals “whether you are outfitting a cabin, searching for rare antiques, or looking to upgrade your summer wardrobe.”
The day usually features many sales in dozens of homes and garages across town.
The Chamber bills the event as a prime opportunity for people to clean up their basements, attics, sheds and garages and turn them into cash.
Event highlights include:
•The City-wide Map: Official event maps, featuring dozens of registered residential sales, are now available at the Ely Chamber of Commerce and various local retailers. These maps serve as the ultimate guide to navigating the hidden gems tucked away in neighborhoods across town.
• Business Crazy Day: Ely’s downtown district will be buzzing with energy as local merchants move their inventory to the sidewalks. Shoppers can expect discounts, end-of-season clearances, and special one-dayonly promotions at participating retailers.
• Used Equipment & Watercraft Sale: A cornerstone of the event for Northwoods adventurers. Renowned local outfitters and private sellers will be offering high-quality used canoes, kayaks, camping equipment, and fishing gear. It is the perfect opportunity to secure reliable equipment for the upcoming open water season.
“There is an incredible energy in Ely during this event,” said Eva Sebesta, Executive Director of the Ely Chamber of Commerce. “It’s more than just a sale; it’s a community celebration that brings together locals and visitors to kick off the summer season in the Northwoods.”
