On May 8 Boundary Waters Care Center hosted a Mother’s Day Celebration, while also celebrating Nurse’s Week.
“We’re celebrating the moms… we’ve got a lot of locals here, a lot of family members come in,” said Sara Spate, executive director of BWCC. “And even beyond family members, I’ve got a lot of staff who have their own moms working here as well.”
The event on Friday was well-received, with around 40 patients, staff, and family members in attendance. Staff led a few Mother’s Day-themed activities, including word association, word scramble; and a selection of Mother’s Day poetry was read aloud.
BWCC is a nonprofit care and rehabilitation community located next to the Ely-Bloomenson hospital. They provide 24/7 nursing care, post-operative care, rehabilitative therapy, and a range of amenities including an onsite barber and beauty salon, housekeeping, laundry services and scheduled transportation to maintain a sense of independence for patients.
Healthcare workers provide professional options for social services, nutrition and diet, mobility activities, and environmental services to round out an individual’s whole health plan.
The level of care provided at BWCC, and events like the Mother’s Day Celebration wouldn’t be possible without the tireless efforts of nurses and healthcare workers. Some global businesses that offer a nurse’s discount year-round include Lululemon, Carhartt, Hello Fresh meal kit service, Kind Bars, E.L.F. Cosmetics, Lenovo and HP products.
