A new all-inclusive choir is coming to the Ely area this summer, offering connection, joy, and community through music.
The newest choir in the area, The Unforgettables, will begin a condensed inaugural and informational season starting June 5. Community members are invited to come sing, learn more, and experience the power of music in a welcoming and dementia- friendly environment.
The Unforgettables is part of Boundary Waters Choral Arts and follows the model developed by the nonprofit organization Giving Voice, whose dementia-inclusive choir program has been evolving for more than a decade.
The choir will include volunteer singers, care partners, and individuals experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes. Organizers say the choir is rooted in inclusivity, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
“All that is required is a joyful heart and a love for song,” organizers shared.
The program aims to create meaningful connection and reduce isolation while building a stronger dementia- friendly community in Ely and the surrounding area.
Community members interested in participating, volunteering, or learning more are encouraged to attend.
