Welfare check call leads to discovery of two people deceased in Babbitt

Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, a Babbitt Police Department officer was called to a residence on the 30 block of Aspen Lane to conduct a welfare check.

The officer entered the home and located two adult victims who both appeared to have gunshot injuries. Babbitt Ambulance Service responded and pronounced both adults deceased.

Both victims will be transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. 

Information about the deceased will be released once the preliminary autopsy and family notifications are complete.

Based on the preliminary findings, investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public.  

No additional information is available at this time. 

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
