BABBITT—Two adults were found dead Thursday morning after a Babbitt police officer responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 30 block of Aspen Lane.
According to a news release, the officer was dispatched to the home just before 11 a.m. June 18 to conduct the welfare check.
After entering the residence, the officer located two adult victims who both appeared to have suffered gunshot injuries.
The Babbitt Ambulance Service responded to the scene and pronounced both individuals deceased.
Authorities said both victims will be transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, where autopsies will be conducted.
The victims on Aspen Lane have been identified as: Edward Olson, 72 and Carla Olson, 67. Both were citizens of Babbitt and were residents of the home where they were found deceased. Preliminary cause of death for them both is a gunshot injury.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the Babbitt Police Department with the investigation.
