Rescue in BWCA after machete injury

On June 26 at approximately 8:20 p.m., Morse-Fall Lake first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a male, located on the Angleworm Trail, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area needing rescue.

It was reported that an adult male had sustained a severe leg injury as a result of using a machete.

The Minnesota Air Rescue Team (MART) responded to the scene, hoisted the victim to safety, and transported him to an awaiting ambulance at the Ely airport.

The victim was transported by ambulance to  Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
