The Eagles Nest fire department along with the Eagles Nest fire and EMS auxiliary held an open house and bake sale on June 20 at the township fire hall. The annual event offered vital fire safety information, firefighting and rescue demonstrations, and many hands-on games and activities for kids.
Participants were able to perform firefighting and rescue activities like putting out a mock fire with a real fire hose and operate the “jaws of life”, while wearing firefighting turnout gear. Interactive safety stations taught children how to properly “stop, drop and roll” if their clothing caught fire and how to test smoke alarms while learning the importance of keeping them in working order.
Children left with an assortment of games, books, and activities to help continue safety lessons at home. Adults were able to register for an upcoming CPR class and buy homemade baked goods donated by the community, which raised critical funds for the fire department.
By making fire safety fun and accessible, the fire department continues its commitment to educating the public while strengthening the bond between first responders and the community they proudly serve. If interested in joining the Eagles Nest fire department, contact [email protected].
The Eagles Nest fire department and auxiliary would like to thank all those who participated in making this event a success. For further information on future events or to volunteer with the auxiliary, please visit: www.ENFEA.org.
