On July 23, the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) hosted a Legislative Awards dinner recognizing city officials and legislators for their advocacy and contributions to Greater Minnesota throughout the 2026 legislative session and their careers. The event was held in New Ulm as a part of the Coalition’s annual summer conference.
“There is no debating that this year’s award winners have shown an unwavering commitment to Greater Minnesota,” said CGMC Executive Director Bradley Peterson. “Each and every one has put their best foot forward and stepped up for the needs of our cities, consistently advocating for solutions to address the issues facing our communities. These recipients are the epitome of civic leadership, and our Coalition is beyond grateful for each of their hard work and dedication.”
Legislator of Distinction Award: Awarded to legislators who played key roles in the CGMC’s policy success or advancing CGMC priorities during the preceding session.
Winners included Sen. Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) and Rep. Roger Skraba (R-Ely).
“Always an energetic advocate for Greater Minnesota, Sen. Hauschild has consistently carried bills and led discussions on critical issues. He has advocated for key tax policies that will benefit Greater Minnesota, including rural housing dollars, child care solutions, and EMS solutions, and continues to work on other critical issues. Sen. Hauschild has been a consistent and tenacious advocate for the policies and programs that support Greater Minnesota and has never shied away from carrying hard bills.”
“In both the House Capital Investment Committee and the House Housing Committee, Rep. Skraba has consistently advocated for the policies and programs that Greater Minnesota needs. Rep. Skraba’s efforts have supported key bonding investments and new housing funding that will serve Greater Minnesota communities for years to come.”
