Ely’s Historic State Theater presents the Broadway play “Love Letters” Friday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Featured will be Angela Campbell in her stage debut as Melissa Gardner, a lively, unstable upper class artist.
Veteran Ely actor David Wigdahl portrays Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, an upper-middle-class staid, dutiful lawyer.
Their relationship gradually unfolds from what is written, and what is left unsaid, in their lifelong correspondence.
Local favorite musician Irene Hartfield will entertain with love songs to set the mood.
The play was recently produced in the Twin Cities at the Chanhassen dinner theater with Don Shelby and Nancy Nelson.
Over the years many recognizable actors from Robert Vaughn and Lynn Redgrave, George Segal and Julie Harris, and Richard Thomas and Jane Curtin brought ‘Love Letters’ to life.
This revival of the Broadway favorite from the late 1980s and early 1990s is being performed as a fundraiser for Ely’s Historic State Theater. All tickets sales and concessions are dedicated to the ongoing success of the theater.
