Embarrass High School class of 1966 reunion get together is in the works. Saturday, August 8, at the Wandering Pines in Gilbert, social hour at 3 p.m., order off the menu around 4 p.m.
A 50th Reunion of the State Baseball Championship will occur on Saturday, Aug. 15. Schedule change: The reunion will begin at 2 p.m., at The Hideaway with a welcome by Jeff Woods. A team picture with the State Championship Trophy will be taken at 2:30 p.m. The team will have a private reunion until 3:30 p.m. Friends, family and community are welcome to meet the team after 3:30 p.m.
Heritage Fest 2026 kicks off on Friday, Aug. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Ely’s Historic State Theater. Four short films about Ely’s history and an art show by famous artist Albin Zaverl will be open to the public. Free admission. On Saturday, Aug. 15 Heritage Fest 2026 continues with youth activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pioneer Mine, across from Grand Ely Lodge. There will be a Kids Museum Scavenger Hunt for ages 4-12 at 9:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. A Youth Scavenger Hunt for ages 10-18 features cash prizes of $400, $200 and $100 for teams of one to four at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. All ages can take part in a selfie photo booth, arts and crafts projects and a cookie mining game. Admission is free. Starting at 11 a.m. Heritage Fest 2026 will have a bake sale, food trucks, live entertainment, a walk and talk history tour, a polka party and taste of Slovenia, all at the Pioneer Mine site across from Grand Ely Lodge. Live entertainment includes Steve Solkela from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the polka party Bernie Palcher at 2 p.m., Fred Godec and Barb at 3:30 p.m. and Roseanne Biondich Omersa from 5-7 p.m. Free admission.

The Babbitt veterans resale room now accepting gently used items Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in the back of the Municipal Building in Babbitt at 71 South Drive.
A firearms safety hybrid class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students must pre-register by calling Terri Loewen at 218-290-4810. Requirements: Must be 11 years of age before class start date.

Stay Active and Independent for Life (S.A.I.L.) sessions will start up on Jan. 6 with a 9 a.m. and a 10:15 a.m. session each Tuesday and Thursday for 12 weeks. This exercise program is free, and designed for people over 60.

The Babbitt Rec is offering Pickleball for people to come play at the Municipal Building. Contact the rec at 218-827-3568. Pickleball is played every Tuesday and Thursday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Municipal Center Gym. All ages and levels are welcome.
