Dressed in holiday attire, the Eagles Nest Fire and EMS Auxiliary along with the Fire Department and community volunteers hosted a festive ‘Christmas in July’ ice cream social to raise money for the Eagles Nest Township Fire Department on July 23.
Guests enjoyed delicious ice cream with many tasty toppings, coffee and cold drinks. Children received special Christmas gift bags filled with candy canes, popcorn, gift certificates and hot chocolate.
In the true spirit of giving, many local businesses and community members generously donated much of the food, drinks, and terrific raffle and gift bag items.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of the community and for the numerous donations” said auxiliary president Bernice Gehrls. “Receiving all these donations means more money can go directly to the Fire Department.”
Firefighters have been extra busy this season working hard to fight the wildfires in the area. To show their gratitude, the community came out in droves to support local heroes. Thanks to the generous community and supporters, the event raised over $2,000. This money will help the brave firefighters get the vital support they need to keep our community safe.
