The 28th annual Ely Artwalk will take place Sept. 1-30 in downtown Ely with more than 400 pieces of art in the shops and windows of downtown businesses by artists living in the Ely area.
Campus and Community Connection Day will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Vermilion Campus. This event will help students and the local community connect. Anyone who has volunteer opportunities, jobs, services, support or would like to engage students may participate and bring information, samples, swag or something fun to share. During the event the college welcomes donations for student basic needs like twin and twin XL bedding, new pillows, laundry soap/dryer sheets, dish soap/dish cloths/towels and food pantry items.
At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. the program will be Curiosity Cohort: Beaded Suncatchers for ages 16 and up. Make a small piece of art to catch the light and throw splashes of color in your room. This program is for ages 16 and older and requires registration. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
At the Ely Public Library on Friday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. the program will be Get Crafty Kid: Art Roulette –for ages 10 and up, Everyone will walk out with a unique, community-created piece of art. Every five minutes you’ll pass the canvas to the person next to you, until everyone has a chance, ending with your original canvas. Registration is required. This program is for ages 10 and up. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
MN Adult and Teen Challenge will be at the Ely Community Center on Sept. 6 at 10 am. Sponsored by Ely Gospel Church and Praise Fellowship Church.
The 32nd annual Harvest Moon Festival, slated for Sept. 11-13 in Whiteside Park. The festival showcases an array of artists and crafters with one-of-a-kind art, pottery, woodcrafts and more. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Northern Lights 5k Color Glow Run Glow Fest will be on Friday Sept. 25, packet pickup and race day registration will begin at noon. Glow Fest is from 4-7 p.m. at Ely Community Hub before the race. New registrations are from noon to 5:45 p.m. Race day prices are $35 for adults, $25 for students and $15 for youth. The event is free to attend, with live music and fun activities for the kids.
Stretch and movement class: Fridays, 9:30-10:45 a.m. at The Hub sponsored by Northwoods Partners. All welcome, great music, friendly people.
