We’ve got a countertop full of cucumbers. The vines really produced after I moved them to our fence along a new part of our garden that we installed this year. Although there was a hard frost that was white and crusty on the grass in my front yard earlier this week, many of our flowers in the backyard and gardens survived. They are still splashing the greens and brown backgrounds of the grapevine and raspberry canes with plenty of lively color.
The afternoons that have been trying to climb and reach up to 70 -- following the examples of those ever- reaching cucumber vines have been very enjoyable. The 4:30-5 o’clock time slot seems to be the magic moment when autumn really makes itself known. It is then when the need for a flannel or a fleece sweatshirt becomes real. Like many of you, I feel that I’m behind schedule this year, what with the wildfires and all the general summer and life chaos. I’ve got autumn chores to do. Fixing, replacing, painting, and we’re still mowing.
I walked to the hardware store and got a universal mower blade. Then watched a YouTube video and took to the garage to find the right tools and a piece of firewood to hold the old blade in place while I loosened the bolt holding it in place.
