International Falls got off to a fast start Tuesday, and the visiting Broncos never looked back.

One-two International Falls finishes in four of the first five events helped build an insurmountable lead, and the Broncos went on to a 59-34 high school girls swimming dual meet victory at the Babbitt pool.

Evelyn Moran and Lucy Luthens both had their hands in three firsts for the Nighthawks.

Both won individual events and both were part of NRE’s two winning relays.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Moran and Luthens joined Jorden Borchert and Lindsey Israel to win in 4:33.22.

The same foursome combined to take the 200 freestyle relay in 1:58.49, edging past a Broncos unit by just over a second.

Luthens outswam the Broncos’ Kayla Dowty to win the 100 freestyle in 1:02.68, and the Ely freshman later was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke.

Moran sprinted to victory in the 50 freestyle in 28.45 seconds.
