PUBLIC HEARING - Option to Re-Zone the Community Center to Residential Transition

PUBLIC HEARING

The City of Ely Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday August 15th at 5:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Board Room of City Hall to gather public input in consideration of a request made by City of Ely for the Option to Re-Zone the Community Center to Residential Transition (RT) or to Commercial (C-1) District from Public (P-2) District currently.

Per the City of Ely Code Sec. 11.40 definition of Residential Transition (RT) District; Purpose of RT District is to provide an area of transition between residential and commercial or industrial uses and to permit residentially compatible uses with residential uses. This district is intended to allow for orderly and efficient use of property and to encourage the upkeep and maintenance of such property. The RT District may be applied to a single property or group of properties within the larger zoning district.

The City of Ely is requesting sealed bids until 2 pm Tuesday August 14th for the construction of a 120 square foot covered kiosk at the Ely Cemetery and a separate bid for the construction of the first phase of a concrete wheel park at the Ely Recreation Center measuring 2,700 square feet. If you are interested in bidding these projects more information can be requested by emailing elyod@ely.mn.us or picking up the package at Ely City Hall. The following positions are open for election on November 6, 2018.

City Clerk: 4 year term
Council Person: 4 year term
Treasurer: 2 year term to fill vacancy position

Residents must file between July 31, 2018 and August 14, 2018. An affidavit of candidacy must be filled out and returned to the City Clerk before 5 PM on August 14, 2018. Candidates must be 21 years of age and have resided in the City of Winton for 30 days prior to the November 6, 2016 election. The filing fee is $2.00.
