At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. the program will be Get Crafty: Adult Coloring – for adults and teens. Need something to do on a dreary January afternoon? Join Tricia at the library in a nice, relaxing hour of adult coloring. The library will supply the coloring books and color pencils, all you need to do is bring yourself. Registration is not required. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. thne program will be Armchair Travelers: Australia – for adults. Do you want to see the world, but your budget or time commitments keep you from going everywhere? Listen to other local people who have had some fantastic trips and experience the world through their eyes. This is equally great if you are looking for some ideas on where you want to go next or just want to dream your way through another destination with pictures and stories. For this month, Rachel will kick things off talking about the trip that she took to Australia in 2008. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library. The KCPro youth snowmobile races will be held on Fall Lake on January 24.
At the Ely Public Library on Friday, Jan. 9 at 4 pm – there will be a puzzle swap - for all ages. Bring in those puzzles (please be sure that they have all of the pieces) that you’ve grown tired of playing and swap them for some new-to-you ones instead. Please plan to take home puzzles if you bring some in!
The Separation of Church and State Group of Ely Indivisible is hosting a free public screening of “Bad Faith,” a documentary, on Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Vermilion Theatre. It offers a history of the rise of religious nationalism and its implications for democracy today in the United States.
The WolfTrack Classic Sled Dog Race weekend is Feb. 20-22. This will be the 18th running of the race.
Everyone is welcome to play MahJong at the Ely Community Center on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.
