Ely trio adds all-league honors

Rechichi, Thomas and Kallberg land All-Arrowhead recognition

Three Ely Timberwolves are adding to their medal collection.

In addition to their spots on the All-Iron Range Conference volleyball team, Ely’s Lilli Rechichi, Clare Thomas and Audrey Kallberg have been picked to the All-Arrowhead Conference squad.

The three standouts were selected to a team chosen by league coaches, and the honors come on the heels of a banner year for the Wolves.

Ely won both the Arrowhead and IRC conference titles on the way to a third straight Section 7A title and berth in the Class A State Tournament. Ely finished 28-5.

Rechichi, who earlier became Ely’s first Class A All-State honoree in program history, finished her prep career on a high note.

For the season, the senior led the Wolves with 333 kills, including 15 in a state tournament loss to New Life Academy and 16 in a section title game victory over Bigfork.

Thomas started the last two seasons for the Wolves and was a key contributor as a sophomore on a state-qualifying Ely team.

The outside hitter was third on the team with 189 kills and finished with 53 ace serves to go with 189 digs.

In her last game as a Timberwolf, Thomas reached double digits with 11 kills in a five-set consolation round loss to New Life Academy.

Kallberg rounded out Ely’s triple threat at the net, coming through with 18 kills in the 7A title game and 19 in the state tournament loss to New Life Academy.

The sophomore finished with 304 kills, second only to Rechichi on the Ely stat line.
