On Oct. 24, at approximately 3:04 p.m., first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a male found deceased on a rock ridge located on the Echo Trail, north of Ely.
The male had been enjoying the outdoors with members of his family and dogs when he became separated from them.
After searching for the male, family members located him. The deceased was identified as a 74-year-old Ely resident.
No foul play is suspected, and the incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
