From the Ely Echo archives of April 1, 1985: “The first divers down, line watchers Frank Leoni and John Baltich keep tension on the lines as the divers explore the lake bottom (30-40 feet down). Mary Baltich and Marcy White angle for a view beneath the ice surface. Craig Nemiste, as safety diver, is ready to go in if there is a diver in trouble.
